Haitong Built a Bridgehead in Poland

Haitong Bank wants to be Goldman Sachs of Central Europe – writes Polish economic newspaper Puls Biznesu

Poland has an important role to play in the ambitious plans of the Haitong Group – wrote Puls Biznesu. “We want to be number one investment bank in the region of Central and Eastern Europe in the perspective of the next 3-5 years” says Christian Minzolini, head of Haitong Bank's office in Warsaw.

Haitong’s headcount in Warsaw is 60 people, which is a lot for an investment banking company in the region, and it comes out with a broad offer without imposing any strict transaction limits. So far 2015 was the best year in the history of the Polish branch, despite the turmoil caused by the change of ownership. Now it wants to use its close relationship with Chinese capital to develop.

“We will support Polish companies in their international expansion and attract Chinese capital to Poland and the region. We have already identified Chinese operators ready to make direct investment in Poland and the CEE region in virtually every sector” says Bartłomiej Dmitruk, deputy head of the Polish branch in charge of investment banking in Haitong Bank Warsaw.

The Chinese capital is very interested in the Polish market, even though the value of current trade exchange does not reflect the potential of both economies.
